Washi Tape

I was finally converted to washi tape once I saw these giant rolls on poppy talk. Washi tape always appealed to me, with all of the fabulous colors and print, but now I am a true believer in how functional it can be.

-So when I popped back down to the store yesterday, I was pleased as could
be when I saw the huge collection of the traditonal smaller tape we now carry.












I took a couple rolls and transformed our normal craft jewelry boxes by layering different tapes on top of each other. It is super easy, and almost full proof with all the different tapes. We might not have the large tape, but you can get the same tonal effect on almost anything -votive and vases, window panes, gift packaging- with our smaller rolls of tape. Priced between $3-4

we changed the window displays today, took the 4th of july down and did a circus theme.

I have been wanting to show some jewelry by one
of Bella Luna's favorite and long time Jewelery designers,
Jody Lyons of Joli Jewelry.
Jody 's jewelry is made of vintage findings (way before it was trendy).
She is inspired by many cultures and influenced by her stylish grandmother
and artist mother.

Here is a ring dish and earring holder, coral barrette, necklace and broach. All composed of glass, crystal, beads, metal all from the 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's. and all tagged with the history.

Halloween originally celebrated the Celtic fall harvest, Samhain.

Pamona, the goddess of the harvest, played a central role in the celebrations.

It is thought that bobbing for apples originated to honor Pamona.

Pamona is Professor Sprout’s first name, the professor of herbology in Harry Potter.

Halloween falls on October 31^st, the last day of the Celtic calendar.

The ancient Celts believed that the border between this world and the ‘Otherworld’ became thin on this date.

This allowed spirits (both harmless and harmful) to pass through.

They began wearing masks and costumes to avoid being recognized as human…

We are sure our hats and headbands will do the trick as well!

The Catholic Hallowmas period of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day and the Roman festival of Feralia all influenced the modern holiday of Halloween.

Jack o’ Lanterns originated in Ireland where people placed candles in hollowed-out turnips to keep away spirits and ghosts.

So why pumpkins now?

The tradition switched to pumpkins when Irish immigrants found the orange veggie sprouting in abundance in North America.
